Twenty-four hours of monsoon...
…& counting. The only downside to this kind of rain (the loud & fat sort) is that after twenty-four hours of the same rhythm, I stop appreciating the sound fairly quickly. I would like to say I am a romantic but I really cannot stand the rain against my window bringing back sweet memories.

OHMYLANTA!
I can always count on NPR to deliver on some of the most meaningful things in my life, namely Sufjan Stevens & his ridiculous, pounding, whirring jams that make my palms sweaty in a great way — ! That does not make much sense but regardless, my palms are sweaty with excitement over NPR’s generosity & yours should be, too.

But the “teeny hat” trend began & ended with that horrid skit. Also, what was up with Amy’s wig?!

Workin’ out to Thursday’s comedy lineup! When I used to dance, a girl in the company would to do her crunches to Real World/Road Rules Challenge, but this is better I think. My normal routine + laughs = cardio + involuntary ab contractions! Win.
Also: I cannot wait to see Dwight pee in an elevator with Pam. Strangest wish ever?!

The Joaquin Phoenix Hoax Was 'Genius' →
The Awl’s take on Casey Affleck’s pseudo biopic, which I am wholly interested in & can’t wait to see. What a ride since Joaquin’s first appearance on Letterman.

Last week I spent a really relaxing, revealing week with my Gran in Denver, CO. The two weeks prior had been a little brutal. I’m on a cold job hunt for the first time, out of college, unaware of how people are confident enough to do this. I spent much of my searching feeling dejected because of all the things that have failed for me these past months, dejected because each time I feel I...
This week...
I am visiting my sweet granny in Denver. Her name is Sue but since I was a little girl, I call her Grandma Soup. Easier to remember & more yum. She is pushing mid-eighties & has combated decades of sickness, dozens of children/grandchildren, two heart attacks, nasty falls & family drama. She is also the most practical, witty & absurd person I know, with a sly sense of humor. ...

Hoax or no? I’m not entirely settled on seeing it, either way.
Filming someone having a mental breakdown is embarrassing & exploitative at best, & the notion that director Affleck would take advantage of his own brother-in-law this way doesn’t hold water, even in Hollywood.

Listening to Joseph Gordon-Levitt screech “Bad Romance” in the Ustream of hitRECord’s “Summer in the City”, the collab production’s latest gig. So far the show has been awkward, a little profane, haphazard & for some reason he keeps grunting like Armstrong. The audience seems to consist mostly of JGL fangirls. I want to love HitRECord, I really do,...

Comments on "How Christians Spoil Sex"
John Acuff is a favorite blogger/author of mine. He writes a winning blog called “Stuff Christians Like” that is as witty as it is earnest in calling out our faults gracefully by also encouraging us by way of Scripture & poignant experiences. God has convicted me through the blog writing for years & I’m glad for all of Acuff’s refreshing honesty.
Yesterday his...

Job Hunt, Part Three
Went to my first job fair today, which felt weird. I told my friend that I would rather be plopped down at a non-profit, be given a supervisor, monthly stipend & call it a day. All this applying & asking about positions is way over my head.
Turns out a lot of my anxieties about job hunting go out the window as long as I take a leap of faith & just do. My feelings are valid but they...

New Sufjan Stevens -- I Walked
Sufjan Stevens - I Walked by Weallwantsomeone
This makes me very, very happy & almost makes me forget about my job scouring woes. Suf picked the perfect time to release a fantastical new EP & announce the coming of The Age of Adz this fall, his first vocal album since Illinois.
